Live online 6 week course with focus on setting up successful CBT methods for your patients. This course will give you a comprehensive set of tools to enhance your treatment of: depression, anxiety, and habits/addictions with state of the art CBT. You will learn how to create and use powerful thought logs with your patients, then transform them into cognitive role playing methods for the treatment of depression, various exposure methods for anxiety, and the addiction/habit log and devil’s advocate technique for the treatment of habits/addictions. During this course there will be many opportunities for practice and role-playing. Completion of this course counts toward TEAM Therapy Level 1 Certification, or partial criteria for Level 2 or 3 Certification (Level 1, Item 1.a. Level 2, Items 1.a. or 1.c. Level 3, Item 1.a.) The Art of the Setup: The Daily Mood Log, Eliciting Negative Thoughts, Rules for Negative Thoughts, Identifying Cognitive Distortions, The Straightforward Technique.
Truth- and Logic-Based Techniques: Examine the Evidence, Re-attribution, Be Specific and Let’s Define Terms.
Cognitive Role Playing Techniques: The Double Standard Technique & Externalization of Voices Technique.
Introduction to Exposure Therapy for Anxiety Disorders. Psycho-education on the nature of anxiety. The rationale for exposure. Types of exposures: cognitive exposure, interoceptive exposure, situational exposure. Tips for introducing and conducting situational exposures. Building an exposure hierarchy.
Interoceptive Exposure and Cognitive Exposure for Anxiety Disorders: Symptom induction, interoceptive exposure, and cognitive exposure.
Identify and Change “Tempting Thoughts” in Habits and Addictions: Use of the Addiction/Habit Log, identify positive distortions and the Devil’s Advocate Technique.
