Zane Pierce is a licensed marriage and family therapist and holds a Master’s degree in counseling psychology from Santa Clara University with an emphasis in health psychology. Prior to joining Feeling Good Institute, he served on-site as Mental Health Provider at Google via One Medical. He has also served as a senior clinician for Uplift Family Services, one of the largest and most comprehensive mental health agencies in California. In this role, Zane applied evidence-based treatments to help children, adolescents, and parents deal with a variety of complex problems including depression, anxiety, and trauma. He launched his career in 2009 as a counselor at Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC) in Mountain View, providing individual and couples counseling to adults and their families, in addition to co-founding Well Within, an outpatient group for adolescents affected by substance use/abuse.
Zane specializes in TEAM-CBT, a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that emphasizes the role of testing, empathy and collecting regular feedback from clients in order to develop a strong therapeutic alliance. He takes an active approach to therapy where clients are encouraged to test out new ways of thinking and behaving in order to enhance their quality of life. While therapy typically involves the exploration of difficult feelings and a lot of hard work by both therapist and client, Zane believes that the best therapy also incorporates positive elements such as humor, joy, and fun.
